For each video, click the play button (>) and click the "X" at the top right when it finishes or you have seen enough. (Sometimes the X doesn't show, just click beside the video.) The video were gathered during the year, some might have a Christ-mass theme or New Year theme, but most are just entertaining. Watch them in the highest resolution your device can manage, settings in the bottom R/H corner.
Melbourne Victoria - 4k Australia
A 4K video of Melbourne, it is not that long, but you can jump forward here and there or cut it short if you like. When you play it, at least set YouTube to the maximum resolution and full screen. Beautifully videoed views of our fair city. There are some great videos of Melbourne on YouTube, and this is another good one to show overseas friends and relatives.
How about an evening walk around Melbourne to see the Christ-mass decorations. This video shows the street decorations and laser projections on the Yarra using fountains and coloured lights. It gathers a big crowd and is very entertaining.
This happened recently on The Voice UK. It is not a show I follow, I just fluked it on YouTube. I really liked the connection of father and son brought back to life. Some names even a music non-follower like me knows.
Tim Ellis is the principal magician of Melbourne, a globally recognised FISM winner and FISM judge. He has made headlines since he was a teenager and became a resident character on Young Talent time. He has performed at the Magic Castle. He is also the originator and director of the Melbourne Magic Festival. He lives in a combination home, magic museum, and theatre in Northcote, a suburb of Melbourne. If you get a chance, go and see one of his shows, you will not be disappointed. This video is one of my favorites.
Chris Tangey
: "Merry Christmas-a celebration of Australia 2024"
Chris Tangey, the Alice Springs Cinematographer, actually did this Christ-mass video for last year. I miss showing it. It is another one of his fantastic photographic videos this year. He travels around Australia, capturing scenic videos of the country. Chris's videos are excellent to show people overseas why we like living on the driest continent.
Australian Magician Helen Coghlan should be more well known than she is. She has appeared on the TV show "Penn and Teller Fool Us" 6 times now and fooled them every time. Her tricks were invented by her 91-year-old father. This video is a documentary about her father's incredible life of inventiveness.
Ok Go used to feature in my e-card for years but then they stopped pumping out their brilliant rock video's. But they are back after a bit of an absence. This new song, Love, and video use mechanical effects done with mirrors, no VFX. All done with a lot of hard work and rehearsals.
1000 Basketballs Vs Hoop From VERY HIGH!! How Ridiculous
I am obliged to put a "How Ridiculous" video up here again 😉. They are now at 23.9 million subscribers. They tend to play up the "Aussie Yahoo" quite a lot; I guess it works. (I say that every year.) In this video, they are doing all sorts of things with 1000 basketballs except play basketball. It's not really a Christ-mass theme, but it is entertaining.
We Tie-Dyed 10,000 Shirts In Extreme Ways! How Ridiculous
I am obliged to put a "How Ridiculous" video up here a second time again 😉. In this video, they are tie dying T-Shirts all sorts of ways so typical of the How Ridiculous guys. The T-Shirts are for sale on their website.
Craig Turner is another Aussie YouTuber; I think he deserves more followers. He makes some very funny videos; with a bit of cobbled together maker skill. This time Craig was interested in testing the accuracy of WA's new traffic cameras that use AI. Again, this video is not about Christ-mass but shows some funny, dangerous engineering to solve(?) a problem(?)😏. Don't try this at home.........actually don't try this anywhere.
Anthony De Masi as Luigi Zucchini on Spicks and Specks
Anthony De Masi is one of the best known magicians in Melbourne, he has been performing all over the world for over 30 years. For 15 years he has also been running The Magic School of Confidence. Many young professional magicians have graduated from this school. It runs in the school holidays for a range ages. Anthony is always in demand performing at all sorts of special events at schools, shopping centres, openings etc. He is usually the magician on call to participate in Melbourne TV shows. He appeared for a while as the resident magician on "Kid's TV". Anthony is a proud member of the Magic Circle of Victoria and recently served a term as the President.
I presume Father Ray Kelly asked this couple what music they would like to be played when the bride walks down the aisle. They probably said, ~"We are not sure Father, can you choose something appropriate for us." So here is what they got.
Colin is a plumber turned very successful YouTuber with 13.3 million subscribers. He mostly builds entertaining (scary, dangerous) devices in his home workshop. He also turned his front garden into an underground garage. In this video, he makes an electrical knife heater as a present for the YouTube Makers Secret Santa back in 2024.
Colin Has made many bicycles and tricycles all cool and special. This video is new and shows a clever bike with a suspension using powerful neodymium magnets repulsion; and it works.
4K | Stumbled Upon a Guinness World Record? 11,787 Drone Light Show in Chongqing, China
I hate seeing Quadcopters being called Drones, an unfortunate slang term from a military aircraft used as a target. Nevertheless, the media dictates what we use conversationally and prefers monosyllables. There is finally a competitor to fireworks for colourful aerial displays in the night sky. Using computer control, thousands of drones fitted with coloured lights can be programmed to produce 3D images. Each pixel (dot of light) is a drone. The number of drones involved is rapidly rising; the year before last, it was in the hundreds, last year in the thousands. This video in China has a World Record? 11,787 Drone Light Show in Chongqing, China.
I was going to write a special bit here for this lady but so much better to let her introduce herself. She deserves this place as the final singer in this set of videos. She is the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2024.
Shawn Farquhar is a fantastic Canadian magician, the first to fool Penn and Teller twice in a row. He is a multi-World Champion of Magic winner. I have friendships with many magicians, and learning from them helps my research work. Shawn has more directly helped me by providing input for a project. I always like to finish the list of videos with something special from Shawn. This video shows a cool disappearing card trick that seemed to go wrong. He performs some wonderful card artistry.
